CPI up in July
THE city’s CPI rose 0.4 percent in July over June and 1.2 percent over the same period last year. Vegetable prices were a driving force of CPI growth, increasing by 13.5 percent over June, due to the stormy weather. Increases were also recorded in egg prices, up 1.2 percent, and travel costs, up 6.3 percent for the traditional peak travel season.
Heat lingers
RESIDENTS are advised to take precautions against heatstroke as the city again encounters scorching heat this week. Temperatures in the city reaches as high as 35 degrees Celsius with showers and thunderstorms.
Woman jailed
A WOMAN was sentenced to nine months in jail for attacking officers at Shatoujiao Checkpoint last year and damaging two X-Ray monitors and other machines at the checkpoint. The woman became irritated when she was stopped for carrying commodities with a value exceeding the amount allowed by law.
