New vice mayors

HUANG MIN, Party chief of Bao’an District, and Gao Zimin, Party chief of Longgang District, were appointed as vice mayors of Shenzhen at the 19th meeting of the Standing Committee of the Sixth Shenzhen Municipal People’s Congress that ended Thursday.

The meeting also removed Zhang Hu from the post of Shenzhen vice mayor.

Liu Sheng was appointed as director of the Shenzhen Municipal Economy, Trade and Information Commission, and Sun Fujin was appointed as head of the Shenzhen Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau.

Flyover viaduct

THE viaduct of Caitian Flyover for west-bound vehicles turning south over Shennan Boulevard will be closed for 120 days, between Saturday and Dec. 16, for the construction of the Gangxia North Comprehensive Transport Hub, the Shenzhen traffic police bureau said Thursday.

Between Saturday and Feb. 18, 2018, the No. 1 Tunnel to Futian Free Trade Zone will be closed to make way for the construction of Yitian Depot on Metro Line 10.

Poisonous spider

YANTIAN Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau intercepted widow spiders, one of the most poisonous spider species, from a bulk of logs imported from the U.S., according to the bureau.

It is the first time that Shenzhen border departments have seized this species. Quarantine officers found spider webs and spiders when it checked the 128 cubic meters of logs. The spiders were confirmed to be widow spiders.
