Trains to Foshan

TRAVELERS from Shenzhen can take high-speed trains to Foshan City starting Friday with the opening of Foshan West Railway Station, which has been under construction for more than four years.

A train from Shenzhen North Railway Station to Nanning in Guangxi, will stop at Foshan West Railway Station. Futian High-speed Railway Station will also operate two trains to Foshan daily.

Foshan West Railway Station will operate 104.5 pairs of trains between cities including Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Nanning, Guiyang and Kunming during its initial stage of operation.

Non-local cars

NON-LOCALLY registered cars will be restricted on Shenzhen roads during rush hours between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., according to a notice from the Shenzhen traffic police bureau that will take effect today. Police will impose fines on violators starting Sept. 1 after a grace period. Cars traveling to checkpoints and the Shenzhen airport should follow designated routes, police said. Violators will be fined 300 yuan (US$45) and have 3 penalty points added to their driver’s licenses.

Underwear SD cards

A WOMAN was caught by Shatoujiao Customs for allegedly smuggling a total of 9,518 SD cards hidden in her pants and bra recently.

The woman looked suspicious as she attempted to avoid being seen by customs officers and was in a rush to leave after handing over her umbrella and handbag for inspection. The detector indicated that the woman had hidden something in her bra and pants. Customs officers found two parcels of SD cards under her bra and another six parcels tied under her pants.

The case has been handed to the anti-smuggling department.
