Drunk kicks
A DRUNKARD was detained for damaging a dozen cars parked on the roadside in Loucun Village in Guangming New Area recently.
The man, surnamed Hu, a 23-year-old native of Henan Province, felt his life was miserable after drinking in Loucun Village on the morning of Aug. 17. Hu started kicking the cars on the roadside and damaged a dozen of them. He has been criminally detained.
In another case, five cars in Lingzhi Park in Bao’an District were intentionally damaged Monday evening.
Planned accidents
A SUSPECT, identified as Tang, was caught in Guangming for blackmailing drivers by orchestrating elaborately planned traffic accidents recently.
Tang would walk along the street with LED tube lighting holders and pretend to be knocked to the ground by a passing car. He would then lay on the ground, drip some prepared finless eel blood on himself and wait for the car driver to seek a private resolution. Tang said that he would generally target non-locally registered vehicles or vehicles that had violated traffic rules.
Cash returned
AN employee with the Mobike maintenance team found 10,000 yuan (US$1,503) cash left in a bike basket near a hotel in Shajing, Bao’an District, on Sunday.
Lu Ke found the bag in his routine work of checking and maintaining the bikes. He checked the bike’s serial number and the user’s information and contacted the bike rider within 30 minutes.
Lower flu prevalence
THE city has downgraded the flu prevalence index to Grade-II for the second consecutive week, meaning that the prevalence of flu in the city is decreasing. High-risk groups, such as pregnant women, children below 5 years old, seniors above 65 years old and people with chronic diseases, are still advised to take precautions against the flu and to see a doctor as soon as possible after developing flu-like symptoms.
