SD card smuggling

A MAN was caught by Shatoujiao Customs for allegedly smuggling 10,381 SD cards on Zhongying Street in Yantian District.

On Aug. 18, the man, carrying some cooking oil in his bag, was in a rush to get through the border check. He walked awkwardly and attempted to evade the X-ray inspection by rushing out of the customs administration area. An investigation showed the man had tied three bags around each of his legs and hid three other parcels in his underwear.

Porn CDs

A 50-YEAR-OLD Hong Kong man was caught recently for carrying 276 pornographic VCDs across the Shatoujiao Checkpoint on Aug. 17.

The man claimed he was a garbage collector and didn’t know it was illegal to bring the VCDs across the border.

Fund missing

A WOMAN surnamed Liang recently found that more than 10,000 yuan (US$1,493) had been stolen from her bank card despite having carried the card with her.

On Sunday, Liang received text messages from a bank showing that 10,000 yuan had been withdrawn from her bank account. Liang immediately closed her account to prevent further loss.

Police are investigating.
