THE existing Line 4, and two other north-south lines and four horizontal lines that are being planned, will form the backbone of the future Metro network in Longhua District.
The three vertical lines include Line 4, 34 and 22 and the horizontal lines include Line 18, 33, 27 and 25, according to the district’s plan.
The district is trying to include lines 22, 25 and 18 into the city’s Metro network Phase IV construction plan between 2017 and 2022.
Based on the draft plan of the city’s rail network between 2016 and 2030, the district will soon initiate a feasibility study for north-south Line 22, which will relieve pressure on the current parallel running Line 4, and east-west Line 25 for the convenience of public commuting and transfers.
The district will also start detailed plans for the two new proposed lines, Line 33 and 34. Line 34 will be built along Meiguan Expressway and be implemented simultaneously with the renovation of Meiguan Expressway. The line will extend northward, linking Futian CBD, Longhua and Guanlan. It will be an intercity rail to Huangjiang in Dongguan and Zengcheng in Guangzhou.
The east-west Line 33 will be built to provide transfers for north-south lines, including Line 4, Line 22 and Line 34. The line will be built between two other parallel lines, Lines 18 and 25, which are under planning.
Line 33 will be built along Longhua-Guanlan Expressway, extending eastward after passing Jiulongshan Intelligent Manufacturing Industrial, Education and Research Zone, Fumin Low-carbon Demonstration Zone. It will provide transfers for Lines 4 and 22 and connect to Line 16 at Longgang CBD after passing Qinghu, Pinghu and Fenggang. The 27.2-km rail line runs 16 kilometers in Longhua District.
At present, Lines 4 and 5 are running in the district. Three other lines, the northern extension of Line 4, Line 6 and Line 10, are under construction.
In the overall plan, a total of 11 rail lines will form a 150-km network in Longhua.
