Smugglers caught

A WOMAN in her 30s was caught attempting to smuggle SD cards across the border by hiding them under her bra and pants by Shatoujiao Customs recently.

At around midnight Aug. 18, the woman entered Shenzhen from Zhongying Street. In tight jeans and a loose white shirt, the woman walked calmly and slowly through Shatoujiao Checkpoint. This raised suspicions from customs officers as people are generally rushing home at this time of night. The on-duty customs officers asked her to stop for a check. The woman looked calm and cooperated with the inspection. Using hand-held detectors, customs officers found something suspicious around her body.

Later, they found three parcels of SD cards, 1,190 in total, under her bra and pants.

In a separate case Aug. 20, Shatoujiao Customs caught another woman using the same tactic to smuggle 1,910 SD cards.

The cases have been handed to the anti-smuggling department for investigation.
