A FEMALE Metro rider was slightly injured after she stepped on a damaged cover to the water collection cellar near an escalator at Exit C of Cuizhu Station on Metro Line 3 on Saturday. She was luckily pulled out by passers-by.

A medical check showed the woman had bruises on her hands and legs.

Shenzhen Metro apologized for the incident and immediately conducted a thorough check of all its water collection cellar covers to prevent similar incidents.

After an initial investigation over the weekend, the city’s market supervision authority said yesterday that the water collection cellar was not part of the escalator.
