Second security checks

TRAVELERS taking high-speed trains from Shenzhen North Railway Station to cities in Fujian Province need to go through second security checks until Sept. 6, according to a notice released by Shenzhen North Railway Station.

The station reminded travelers to leave enough time for the checks before their train departs.

Car plates

A TOTAL of 737,274 people applied for August’s lucky draw for 2,933 car plates. Only 3.97 out of every 1,000 applicants will get a license plate, according to statistics from the Shenzhen Car Quotas Administration Center.

Self injection

A WOMAN was taken to the hospital for days of treatment due to experiencing dizziness and breathing difficulty after injecting herself with an overdose of botulinus toxin.

The woman surnamed Yu, 36, bought the botulinus toxin and injected 2,400 units, 12 times the clinical limit, into her legs July 24. On July 30, she started to feel dizziness and fatigue, as well as difficulty swallowing and breathing. She was later diagnosed with botulinus toxin poisoning.

Checkpoint upgrade

A RENOVATION to upgrade the e-channels at the Entry and Exit Hall of Huanggang Checkpoint was initiated yesterday.

The service hall will reopen before the National Day holiday and the checkpoint administration advised travelers to stagger travel hours when crossing the border or to use other checkpoints.

Deposit complaints

COOLQI.COM, the operator of the eye-catching golden app-based bikes that are gaining attention for their shiny golden appearance and feature functions, such as intelligent seat-adjusting, phone-charging and voice-controlled locks, has been criticized by users for its deposit payment system.

Users are required to deposit 298 yuan (US$43.84) before using the app, yet they found they couldn’t get the deposit back, even after having applied for as long as two weeks.

A user surnamed Zhang applied through the app for a refund for the deposit Aug. 3, but he hadn’t received the funds by Aug. 25. Meanwhile, the hotline’s service was constantly busy.

Fund park

THE Hongling Fund Industrial Park, a key financial innovation project in Luohu District, was recently put into operation in Luohu Internet Financial Industry Park.

The park will introduce 100 private equity firms, managing 20 billion yuan. By 2020, the park will have introduced 600 registered privately offered fund managers and issued more than 2,400 fund products.

Emperor tomb repairing

NANSHAN District will complete repairs on Song Shaodi Tomb, the tomb of the last Song Dynasty emperor, the 8-year-old Emperor Zhao Bing.

Chiwan, where the tomb is located, and Nantou area in Nanshan District, was listed as one of the 10 cultural and geographic landmarks of the Guangdong Marine Silk Road this February.

Nanshan District has decided to repair the major relics including Chiwan Left Fort, Chiwan Tianhou Temple and Chiwan Beacon, which dates back to the Song Dynasty.
