Man detained for claiming to blow up railway station
    2017-August-31  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A MAN was arrested by Shenzhen police for claiming to want to blow up Shenzhen North Railway Station and posting a photo of a gun on the Internet, sznews.com reported.

Shenzhen police received a report from netizens early Monday morning. It was reported that a user nicknamed “Jingnidaren” had posted on Sina Weibo about his plan to blow up Shenzhen North Railway Station as well as the gun photo. He claimed that he was a member of Islamic Jihad al-Shabaab and was looking for like-minded people.

The police launched a prompt investigation and arrested the 21-year-old suspect identified as Luo at his residence in Bao’an District. He pleaded guilty to posting the thread, which was intended to increase the number of his fans. He added that the firearm picture attached to the post was downloaded from the Internet. At present, the case is under further investigation.

According to the Criminal Law, people who fabricate false information about danger, epidemics and disasters, or deliberately spread it on the Internet or other media will face imprisonment or criminal detention depending on the seriousness of the consequences.
