Lin Zehao, Class 1, Senior 1, Shenzhen Xin’an Middle School Instructed by Ye Haiyang, Tang Ying 深圳市新安中学高一(1)班 林泽浩 指导老师:叶海洋 汤颖 A few days ago, I attended a special English class which taught us some new ways to watch English movies, such as “Forrest Gump.” The teacher showed a film clip from “Forrest Gump” and asked us to write down a sentence from the movie, for example, “If God intended everybody to be the same, he’d have given us all braces on our legs.” We had a discussion and understood that not all people will always succeed in everything in their lives. Life is full of unfair things and failures. So we should be more hardworking, so that we can live better lives. Then, the teacher explained the plot of the movie by introducing some background cultural information and we put forward some questions on the plot. After that we discussed some characters in the movie, for example Forrest’s mother. We thought that she was a patient and clever person. She kept calm even when facing death. By analyzing the characters, we learned more about the movie, improved our English and broadened our horizons. This class was different from other classes because it was much more free, and we could speak and ask questions freely. The class atmosphere was very lively. We learned a lot about Western culture, life experiences and so on. The most important thing was that I improved my oral English. These are the reasons why I like this class. This class has changed my way of watching English movies. I used to watch English movies just for entertainment, but after I took the class, I learned a new way to watch English movies and gained more knowledge. |
