Subsidies for sports
SHENZHEN will offer subsidies of up to 25 million yuan (US$3.85 million) each competition season to locally registered sports clubs that represent Shenzhen at top-level national professional tournaments in soccer, basketball and volleyball, according to the latest government gazette released to the public.
Those that represent the city at other national tournaments will get subsidies of up to 15 million yuan for each competition season.
Tennis, table tennis, badminton, golf and other sports clubs that represent Shenzhen at tournaments of different levels can get subsidies of up to 8 million yuan each season depending on influence, type of events and ranking in the events.

THE per capita expense of Shenzhen residents on books, including digital books, has ranked No. 1 among Chinese cities for 26 consecutive years, according to a report by the Daily Sunshine, quoting a source from the city’s arts and literary circle.
Shenzhen residents spent 62 minutes per day on average reading either printed or digital books in 2015, which is much higher than the national average. The revenue of Shenzhen Book City CBD Store reached 500 million yuan a year, ranking No. 1 for revenue growth rate among Chinese book stores.

A 17.6-KM spur line of the Guangzhou-Dongguan-Shenzhen intercity rail, which connects Pazhou Station of Guangzhou-Foshan rail and Lianhua Station of Foshan-Dongguan intercity rail, will provide another mode for travelers from Shenzhen to Guangzhou.
