A TOTAL of 24 local enterprises, including China Ping An, Huawei, Amer, China Merchants Bank, Vanke and Tencent, have been listed among the Top 500 Chinese enterprises, indicating Shenzhen’s advantages in high-tech, finance, the Internet and advanced manufacturing, according to the 2017 ranking released by China Enterprise Confederation and China Enterprise Directors Association.

The above mentioned six enterprises, along with Evergrande Group, which has moved its headquarters to Shenzhen, were also listed on this year’s Fortune Top 500.

Huawei, ZTE, China International Marine Containers Group, BYD, Skyworth and Evoc are the leading companies in their respective industries. The profit rankings of China Ping An Group and China Merchants Bank in the finance sector were in the top 10 of the Chinese companies.

Shenzhen now has more than 30,000 technology companies, including 8,037 enterprises that have been accredited by State agencies. This large technology company base, along with the 1,551 laboratories and research centers at State, provincial and municipal levels, has become a consistent source for Shenzhen’s innovation-driven development.

According to the government policies, local enterprises that are listed among the world’s top 500 for the first time will received a 30-million-yuan (US$4.62 million) reward. Those that have entered China’s Top 500 will receive a 10-million-yuan award.

In addition, Shenzhen is offering up to 10 million yuan to support laboratories and innovation platforms that conduct State-level research. Laboratories headed by well-known scientists, research institutes initiated by returned overseas professionals and startup teams and laboratories set up through private investment and social organizations, are eligible for subsidies of up to 100 million yuan.
