Vehicle restriction

SHENZHEN will restrict nonlocal light diesel trucks on Shenzhen roads from Friday.

Nonlocal cargo vehicles (electric logistics vehicles not included) will be restricted on Shenzhen roads (expressways not included) from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on work days, police said. Violators will be fined 1,000 yuan (US$153) and have three penalty points added to their driver’s licenses.

The rule will take effect Oct. 1, after a two-week grace period.

Bankcard fraud

A WOMAN surnamed Wang was dissuaded by bank employees in Luohu District from transferring 600,000 yuan to fraudsters recently.

According to Luohu police, Wang came to an outlet of Industrial and Commercial Bank of China in Liantang on Sept. 8 for online banking business.

The bank’s security guard felt Wang might have been cheated as she said she was required by the Shanghai Public Security Bureau to transfer money to save her son, who was supposedly facing arrest for being involved in money laundering.

Fence death

A BOY died after a fence surrounding a power transmitting station that had become loose fell on him while he was playing in a nearby neighborhood in Longgang District on Monday.

The boy had been left unattended, as his father went upstairs with his younger brother, before the tragedy happened. When the mother went to look for the boy 15 minutes later, she found him laying in a pool of blood near an ambulance with medical employees trying to rescue him. The medical workers gave up after 20 minutes and said the child had suffered brain damage.
