Residents read under their umbrellas at noon at Shenzhen Library in Futian District over the weekend. Shenzhen Meteorological Observatory issued a yellow heat alert Saturday, the ninth of the type this year, as high temperatures above 33 degrees Celsius is continuing in the city. According to Shenzhen Library, 5 percent of the seats in the library are directly in the sun during the hot season between July and October. The library used big glass walls in design to reduce the use of interior lighting and absorb natural exterior light.
