SHENZHEN traffic police will set a maximum limit of 8,000 vehicles per day permitted to enter the Dongchong and Xichong area in Dapeng during the National Day holiday period.
Control stations will be placed at the intersections of Nanxi Road and Xinfeng Road, Tongfu Road and Haigang Road, and Pingxi Road and Shuitou Road once the daily limit of vehicles has entered the beach areas each day.
Dapeng police will impose a “one exits, one enters” policy to prevent surges and overcrowding after the number reaches 8,000.
The Dongchong-Xichong area, which is one of the eight most beautiful coastlines in China, is also one of the most congested areas in the city during weekends and holidays.
The single-day record of vehicles entering Dapeng reached 48,000 July 29 when the police received more than 800 congestion reports in the Dongchong and Xichong area.
The two communities, Dongchong and Xichong, can offer only 4,000 parking spaces. Dapeng New Area has renovated four parking lots, hoping to accommodate more passenger vehicles.
Police will use monitoring cameras to track vehicles that park illegally in the Dongchong, Xichong and Yangmeikeng areas during this year’s National Day holiday. Drivers who remain illegally parked for three minutes will be punished. (Han Ximin)
