A 9-YEAR-OLD girl in Longgang District attracted public attention recently as a TV program disclosed that the girl was abused brutally by her mother. The poor girl’s metacarpal bone was broken in a recent attack.

It was later disclosed that the mother has been abusing her daughter for years ever since both of her two marriages failed.

The Longgang police have stepped in to investigate the case and the girl’s father said he would try to regain custody of his daughter. The woman might face charges for intentional injury.

Expectant mom helped

A PREGNANT woman was sent to the hospital for labor pains in the evening of Sept. 15 by three traffic police officers while she was taking a walk alone near her home in Pinghu, Longgang District.

The woman did not expect the labor because it was still a fortnight before the expected due date. She was by herself when labor pains started and she called the police for help.

Upon receiving the call from the pregnant woman, three patrolling police arrived and sent her to the nearest hospital. The woman successfully gave birth to a boy.
