THE Qianhai authority said it would work out a detailed plan to address the traffic condition in the area, according to Du Peng, director of Qianhai Cooperation Zone Authority, on Wednesday.

He said this when taking questions concerning community and public issues from residents for the program of “Livelihood QR Code” organized by Shenzhen Internet Information Office.

“Qianhai is putting great effort into improving its traffic environment. In the past, Qianhai was a mudflat. Now it’s positioned as a new city center and has become an important transportation hub for Shenzhen, representing a revolutionary change,” said Du.

Du said that Qianhai is undergoing an intense period of development and faces complex traffic problems.

A total of 13 railway lines with a length of 63 kilometers and 41 stations will be built to link the area. Currently, Metro Line 1, 5 and 11 are already in service. The southern extension of Metro Line 5 and the west extension of Metro Line 9 are expected to be put into service in 2019.”

The Riverside Expressway, Mawan Cross-Sea Channel, and Yueliangwan and Haibin boulevards have been made to improve outbound connectivity. In terms of internal connectivity, the construction of eight trunk roads and 11 secondary trunk roads has been planned.
