XIAOYI, a home service robot with high-accuracy positioning and dialogue skills, has won the attention of industry insiders and professionals at the Shenzhen International Industrial Automation and Robot Exhibition 2017 on Wednesday, sznews.com reported.

The robot, presented by Shenzhen Zhongzhou Intelligent Technology Co. Ltd., is built with a high-accuracy indoor positioning system that was developed in-house by the company. The robot provides an excellent interactive experience, including walking freely, precisely, and without error within the pre-designated area. The positioning system is accurate within centimeters, a recent technological breakthrough in the field of robot navigation.

Wei Yuanjiang, general manager of the company, said that advanced positioning technology enables Xiaoyi to navigate without assistance from door to door, which means it can go from an office in a building across the courtyard and accurately enter into another office in a different building. In addition, as a home service robot, Xiaoyi possesses the dual functionality of being a sleek piece of home furnishing as well as a childhood education instructor. It can deliver simple lessons and reminders that support children’s growth.

“With this robot, parents will be able to witness the robot reciting poems with children sentence by sentence, or it is reminding them to review subjects for tests,” said Wei.

The low-configuration version of the robot costs about 10,000 yuan (US$1,517).
