Scam suspect detained after being at large for 10 years
    2017-September-25  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A SUSPECT of a fraud case was detained by the railway police in Shenzhen after 10 years at large, the Southern Metropolis Daily reported Friday.

The suspect, surnamed Huang, checked into a hotel in Guangming New Area earlier this month. Police from Shenzhen East Railway Station realized that Huang might be the suspect of the unresolved 10-year-old fraud case. Upon arriving at the hotel at which he registered, the police found only a woman who claimed to be Huang’s wife present in the room.

The police instructed the woman to tell Huang to visit the police station the next day to assist in the police’s investigation of a train ticket resale case.

Huang and his wife went to the police station the next morning. During interrogation, Huang said he was from Jiangxi Province and both of his parents had passed away. He denied involvement in the fraud case.

The police detected his lie after cross-examining his wife. Huang finally admitted to evading the police and committing fraud in 2007. (Zhang Yang)
