SZ entrepreneurs on Hurun list
    2017-September-27  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

TEN entrepreneurs whose companies are headquartered in Shenzhen made it onto the list of the Hurun 30 Under 30 for China 2017 released by the Hurun Research Institute on Friday, according to sznews.com.

A total of 30 young entrepreneurs below 30 years old in China were selected on the list for their business accomplishments. Most of them are from VR, IT, AI, UAV and other high-tech industries. Three of them are from “unicorn” companies that are valued at over US$1 billion, including Dai Wei from ofo, Yin Qi from Face++ and Yang Yuzhi from u51.com.

Among these entrepreneurs, 13 of them have headquartered their companies in Beijing and 10 of them have located their headquarters in Shenzhen.

One of the Shenzhen-based entrepreneurs is Guo Lie, founder and CEO of Faceu, a video-making social app that is popular among young people. The 28-year-old was born in Hubei Province and worked at Tencent after graduating from the Huazhong University of Science and Technology.

Faceu topped the rankings on Apple’s App Store after it was launched and Guo’s company obtained its B-round investment of over US$10 million in 2016. Currently, the app has over 25 million users, 80 percent of whom were born after 1990.

He Wei, founder and CEO of VxFly, is another Shenzhen-based entrepreneur on the list. He was born in Hunan Province in 1989 and founded VxFly in March 2015, a company specializing in developing HD image data systems for drones. Underwater robots developed by He’s company have been sold to dozens of countries and regions around the world.

Leng Xiaokun, president and CTO of Leju Robot, a high-tech company based in Shenzhen, is also on the list. Born in Shandong Province in 1992, Leng is a Ph.D. holder from the Harbin Institute of Technology. The turnover of Leng’s company reached 12 million yuan (US$1.82 million) last year, and the humanoid robots developed by the company performed on CCTV’s Spring Festival Gala in 2012.
