A NEWLY developed app that tracks food production information either by scanning the food item’s barcode or inquiring the supermarket has been launched by the city’s food and drug administration, sznews.com reported.
On Saturday morning, the city’s food and drug watchdog invited citizens to visit a branch of Dreams-on Department Store to find out more about their newly launched commodity information-tracking service.
At the event, the store’s staff introduced the B2B (business-to-business) system to citizens, which was developed in-house by Rainbow Department Store Co. Ltd. Through the system, information such as the commodity’s supplier, its qualifications and certifications, daily sales performance and credit ratings, can all be tracked to ensure effective monitoring of the products’ quality and consumption safety.
Both the iOS and Android versions have been released. After downloading and logging onto the app, users can check food information by either directly scanning the barcode or sending an inquiry to the supermarket. The information provided includes pictures, components and ingredients, production license numbers, and place of production.
At present, most of the large and medium-sized supermarkets in Shenzhen are available to the query.
The app has been launched at more than 10 large chain supermarkets in Shenzhen, including Shirble Department Store, Rainbow Department Store, Aeon, Bestva, and online shopping mall sfbest.com.
The system has completed the collection and management of more than 3,200 suppliers, 84,000 licenses and 180,000 products.
The app also covers some small eateries and is linked with the official WeChat account of the food and drug administration. (Zhang Yu)
