Fine exemption

A TOTAL of 448 drivers have applied for exemption of the 200-yuan (US$30) fine for minor parking offenses in the past week since police adopted the exemption policy Sept. 21.

Drivers who move their vehicles within 10 minutes of the issuance of a parking violation ticket of 200 yuan can apply for punishment exemption through the Star Driver system at police official accounts on WeChat and Alipay, according to the policy.

Users of the police-operated Star Driver platform can apply for such exemptions once quarterly. The exemption doesn’t apply to designated roadside parking places operated by the city’s road traffic center.

The Shenzhen Star Driver service system now has 2.82 million users.

Beach registration

BEACHGOERS to Dameisha Beach Park can now make reservations at the WeChat account “畅游盐田” or use ID cards to enter the park, according to Dameisha Park Management Office, which has updated its online reservation system.

Park visitors no longer need to get printed QR codes before entering the park.

Between May and October, Dameisha Beach Park adopted the reservation system that caps daily visitors to 80,000 a day.

More schools

LUOHU District will build and renovate 17 schools within three years, adding 13,000 new places for study to students, according to Wang Shuifa, director with the district’s educational bureau at a meeting last week.

The schools include 13 primary and secondary schools that will have the capacity to enrol 10,020.
