Pregnant woman
A POLICE officer drove a pregnant woman to a Nan’ao hospital for a medical check while he was on duty in Yangmeikeng, Dapeng New Area, on Oct. 1.
The woman felt unwell after being in a car collision in Yangmeikeng. As traffic was heavy, the policeman used a motorcycle to carry the woman to the hospital.
Fines on smokers
A TOTAL of 56,434 smokers had been fined by the end of July for smoking in restricted areas and public venues, totaling 2.82 million yuan (US$427,273), statistics from Shenzhen Smoking Control Office showed.
Since Jan. 1, smoking has been banned in all indoor public places and certain restricted outdoor areas.
Eight business venues were fined 210,000 yuan for failing to implement no-smoking rules.
Holiday duty
A 59-YEAR-OLD police officer who will retire next April caught a fugitive during his last National Day holiday shift at the Shenzhen airport.
On Oct. 1, a back-seat passenger raised Chen Yuexin’s suspicion as he checked over the vehicle. The passenger, who was caught by Chen and his aide officers, was later confirmed to be a fugitive who was wanted online.
