Free parking

THE parking lots at Shenzhen Bay Park are free between 6 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. for joggers and morning exercisers.

There are eight parking lots, offering 1,433 parking spaces, along the 13-km coastal park. Shenzhen urban administration is trying to make all parks in the city free of charge for morning exercisers.

Hospital expansion

SHENZHEN has invested 89 billion yuan (US$13.52 billion) in the past five years to build, renovate and expand 60 hospitals, adding 14,600 hospital beds, statistics from Shenzhen health commission showed.

By the end of 2020, the number of hospital beds in Shenzhen will reach 63,000.

Shenzhentong uses

THE use of Shenzhentong cards has been expanded to more than 8,000 POS terminals at convenience shops and movie houses after its popularity on public transport such as buses, Metro trains, taxis and bike rental services, according to a report by Shenzhen transport commission.

In a letter responding to local political advisers, the commission said the Shenzhentong company will set up a joint venue this year to provide comprehensive services such as ID recognition, public services and instant payment to local residents.

Gas cylinders

FIVE vehicles used to store gas cylinders at an unlicensed location in Minzhi Subdistrict, Longhua District were impounded by law enforcement officers yesterday.

More than 210 gas cylinders were seized in the joint action, which involved 85 law enforcement officers.

The old cylinders were stored in an open space in the sweltering heat, posing grave safety hazards, law enforcement officers said. One person was taken away by the police for further investigation.
