Meeting observing
LOCAL residents, including expats, can observe the 20th session of the Standing Committee of the Sixth Shenzhen Municipal People’s Congress (MPC) on Monday and Tuesday.
Interested residents can apply with the letter and petition office of the Standing Committee of the MPC at the south gate of Area A of the Shenzhen Civic Center by providing their IDs or passports and ID photos.
The general office will confirm 10 people and inform them before Oct. 16. The observers can attend the plenary meetings that will review the city’s firefighting regulations and medical emergency regulations, according to a notice from the MPC’s general office.
New cooperation
SHENZHEN and Harbin in Heilongjiang Province signed cooperation deals in science, economics and trade, equipment manufacturing and emerging industries Wednesday.
In a business promotion meeting Wednesday, the two cities inked 52 agreements involving 27.4 billion yuan (US$4.16 billion). The projects include construction of industrial parks, cultural tourism, medical health, industry and State-owned enterprise reform, agriculture, logistics, science and finance.
Exchange programs
THE Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen recently signed deals with 14 world-renowned universities for exchange programs, summer camps and joint degree programs, providing more opportunities for its students to study and exchange overseas.
The 14 universities, including Oxford University, University of St. Andrews, York University, University of Bristol, University of Pennsylvania and Boston University, will start offering programs to CUHK-Shenzhen students in 2018.
