A MARATHON themed “Run for Science” will be held at Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) on Nov. 26, with running teams from local financial and technology companies participating, according to a press conference held at SUSTech on Thursday.

Sixty running teams will be invited to join the race. Each team will have six runners, including at least one woman. Other exercise activities, such as pull-ups, jumping rope and tire rolling, will also be held during the event.

The event is co-organized by SUSTech, Shenzhen Green Pine Capital Partners Co. Ltd. (GPCP), BGI and Royole. Each member of the winning teams will get a 3-D mobile theater Royole Moon provided by Royole, a Shenzhen-based high-tech company specializing in developing flexible displays, flexible sensors and smart devices.

According to Fan Junchao, PR director of Royole, the company is planning on applying its technologies to more sports products in the future. He said the event will offer a good opportunity for the company’s employees and members of Shenzhen’s tech community to pay more attention to their health as they are always occupied by work.

Cao Jun, general manager of BGI Sports, said the company will offer gene tests for the participants before the race so they can make proper exercise and diet plans.

According to Luo Fei, a co-founding partner of GPCP, the marathon is the first tech-themed sports event in China. “The logo of the event is a circle formed by the figures of six runners, and represents unity, trust, collaboration and the hard-working spirit of the event’s participants,” he said.
