THE Shekou Museum of Reform and Opening Up, featuring the history of reform and opening up in China, will officially open to the public at the end of December, the Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported. As the reform’s precursor, Shekou in Nanshan District has witnessed drastic changes over the past decades. The museum is dedicated to showcasing precious historical materials and items characteristic of the times. At present, the museum is launching a global creative design contest for the solicitation of original ideas, which aims to interest the public in creating distinctive cultural and creative products for the museum, while at the same time learning about the city’s history. The event also encourages innovation in the design process, through which fresh and interesting ideas are expressed to exhibit the influence of reform and opening up on the city’s modernization and people’s lives. The contest will award five prizes. For the design reference category, it has three themes: creative life, cultural and office goods and fashion collocation. The deadline for submissions is Nov. 10 and the results will be released Dec. 4. The winning designs will be produced as the official souvenirs of the museum. (Zhang Yu) |
