Metro Line 4

THE third phase of Metro Line 4 will be put into service in 2020, according to Hong Kong’s MTR Corp., the operator of the Metro line.

The 10.8-kilometer line will have eight stations along Heping Road, Guanlan Boulevard and Golf Boulevard, connecting Longhua District and Futian CBD.

The project is strategically important for promoting Longhua’s economic development and strengthening the link between Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Dongguan.

Fruit smuggling

A TRUCK was caught by Wenjindu Customs for smuggling American yellow pitaya recently, the first of its kind seized by customs in recent years. The truck was declared empty upon entering Wenjindu Checkpoint. However, during the customs inspection, 50 boxes of undeclared American yellow pitaya, weighing 750 kilograms, were found hidden in the vehicle. The fruit was estimated to be worth over 100,000 yuan (US$15,070).

Card replacement

HOLDERS of the first-generation on-loan Octopus cards, whose card numbers have no brackets for the last digit, are called to have their cards replaced as the cards will become invalid soon.

The first-generation Octopus card will trigger a special prompt when tapped on an Octopus reader. The prompt will be in effect for at least three months, serving as the final notification for replacement. The cards can be replaced free of charge at any Octopus service point located at designated MTR stations, shopping malls and MTR customer service centers in Hong Kong, or the designated Kowloon motor bus customer service centers.
