A 90-YEAR-OLD woman, who had lost her way in Wulian community, Longgang District, got in touch with her family with police’s help, the Daily Sunshine reported yesterday. Policeman Huang Ke was on his routine patrol when he found the elderly woman wandering alone on the roadside Saturday morning. After inquiry, Huang discovered that the woman spoke Sichuan dialect, but could not clearly provide information on who she was, where she lived or how to contact her family. Huang promptly took her to the police station to rest and brought her some hot water and cakes. After repeated inquiries, the policeman learned that the elderly woman, surnamed Su, had just come from Sichuan Province to Shenzhen to live with her grandson in Longgang. Seeing that the weather was nice, she went out for a walk, but lost her way because she was unfamiliar with the streets. Last Friday, Longgang police gave timely assistance to another elderly woman who needed medical treatment. The woman was about 60 years old and had fainted on a bus due to high blood pressure. The police immediately called 120 for an ambulance, escorted her to the hospital and waited until her family arrived. (Zhang Yu) |
