9 hikers lost on mountain rescued
    2017-10-26  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

NINE hikers who lost their way on Laobaishi Mountain were rescued by Pingshan police Monday, the Shenzhen Evening News reported yesterday.

Twelve hikers from a local slimming club climbed Laobaishi Mountain in Pingshan District on Monday morning. Three of them went down the mountain at around 2 p.m., while the other nine people continued climbing. However, the nine hikers lost their way while trying to find a way off the mountain and they called the police at 6:30 p.m. as they were running out of food and water.

A rescue team consisting of nearly 50 police officers and security guards was sent to search for the hikers. There are two hilltops on Laobaishi Mountain and one is 30 kilometers away from the other. The hikers didn’t know which hilltop they were on. After searching both hilltops for three hours, the rescuers found the nine hikers and brought them down the mountain.

None of the hikers were injured. One female hiker had leg cramps and was carried by two police officers down the mountain. (Zhang Yang)
