Marathon lucky draw

A TOTAL of 63,946 people have applied to run the Shenzhen International Marathon, with 24.3 percent registering for the full length and 51.4 percent applying to run the half, according to the organizer.

The eligible runners have been decided through the lucky draw at www.shenzhenmarathon.org.

The organizer offered 12,000 slots for full-marathon runners (including group runners), 12,000 slots for half-marathon runners and 6,000 for 6-km runners.

The candidates are required to register to pay their fees by Nov. 4.

Metro service

THE Metro service in the city will extend for an hour to midnight Oct. 31, Halloween night, according to the operator yesterday.

At some stations crowded with people, like Window of the World, the operator will add trains to divert riders.

Bridge reconstruction

THE bridge over Shawan River on Luofang Road in Luohu District opened to traffic recently after three years of reconstruction.

The bridge was closed in July 2014. The reconstruction work was initiated in November 2015, but was delayed in order to occupy a river bed, dismantle a seafood market and border fence and relocate pipelines.
