SHENZHEN, along with 15 other cities in China, was rated as having a “very healthy” ecology, according to China Ecological City Construction and Development Report (2017) jointly released by the Social Development Research Center of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and five other institutions. The report showed 16 cities, including Zhuhai, Xiamen, Zhoushan, Sanya, Tianjin, Huizhou, Guangzhou and Lhasa, in the category of “very healthy,” accounting for 5.63 percent of the total 284 cities that were surveyed. Shenzhen ranked 13th, advancing 21 places from last year’s ranking. In the other category, “Comprehensive Innovation-based Ecological City,” Shenzhen ranked third. The report analyzed five types of ecological cities, including environmentally friendly, healthy and livable, green and innovation-based. An innovation-based city should be a practitioner in implementing new development concepts such as innovation, coordination, green, open and sharing. Beijing, Shanghai, Suzhou, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Wuhan, Xiamen and Xi’an are among the innovation-based ecological cities. (Han Ximin) |
