Expo organizer fined

THE organizer of China Public Security Exposition (CPSE) was fined 50,000 yuan (US$7,558) by Futian police for enlarging exhibition scale without permission and causing crowding that posed a threat to safety.

According to police, the organizer, Shenzhen CPSE Exhibition Ltd., applied to the authority saying that the number of visitors would be controlled within 30,000 a day. However, the actual number of registered visitors reached 130,000 a day when the exhibition opened Sunday.

The expo, which covered 100,000 square meters at Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center, is the largest of its kind in Asia.

Housing land

A PARCEL of land in Kuichong, Dapeng New Area, which will be developed into an area for commercial buildings, residential apartments, a public transport terminal and other public facilities, was auctioned off at 746 million yuan. Dapeng New Area Investment Shareholding Co. won the project.

Checkpoint traffic

DRIVERS who park their vehicles on Yuheng Road in front of the Futian Checkpoint building for more than three minutes will be fined 300 yuan and have three penalty points added to their driver’s licenses from yesterday.

The tightened rule is to address traffic congestion caused by illegal parking in the area. Drivers who need to park for more than three minutes such as those carrying elderly people, babies or disabled persons, need to register with the police in advance by calling 8333-3333.

Toddler trapped

A 2-YEAR-OLD child whose head had gotten stuck between the iron bars of the safety net at the family’s home in Guantian Community, Shiyan Subdistrict, Bao’an District, was saved by police Monday.

Police officers from Guantian Police Station found the boy stuck in the net with his body hanging in the air during their patrol Monday morning. The child had been left home alone, so the officers had to break into the room to bring him to the safety.

2 detained

THE two workers who broke through the tunnel of Metro Line 9 during a drilling job for a housing estate at Shenzhen Bay Super Headquarters have been detained for their unlicensed work.

The two suspects admitted to their illegal work, during which they drilled through the tunnel, which was about 13 meters under the ground and caused a mud cave-in.
