Littering detention

THE littering of a cigarette butt that caused two trucks to catch fire on the roadside resulted in a 10-day detention for a man in Longhua District.

Police received a report Wednesday, saying that the fire started from a pile of wood at the entrance to the Jinye Industrial Park in Dalang Subdistrict and ignited the two trucks.

Surveillance cameras showed the man throwing the cigarette butt into the woods by a roadside bush as he received a phone call at around 11 a.m. Wednesday. The cigarette butt started the fire due to the dry and windy weather.

Specialties promotion

HARBIN City, capital of Heilongjiang Province, will promote its produce and specialties at a fair to be held between Saturday and Nov. 6 at Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center.

The fair covers 2,000 square meters with 82 booths that are divided into seven categories including oil and cereals, drinks, packaged foods, mountain specialties and time-honored brands.

Futian GDP

THE GDP of Futian District between January and September this year reached 281.5 billion yuan (US$42.65 billion), an increase of 8.2 percent over the same period last year, 1.3 percent higher than the national average and 0.6 percent higher than the provincial average.

Futian District is accelerating development in the Meilin-Caitian area, Xiangmihu area and Futian Bonded Zone. A total of 84 urban rejuvenation projects will offer 7.9 hectares of land for development.

Ex-official prosecuted

A FORMER official with the Bao’an District Science Innovation Bureau is facing charges for taking bribes. Bao’an People’s Procuratorate started an investigation into the alleged crimes of Wang, deputy chief of the bureau, in July. The investigation has been completed and the case has been handed over to the prosecutor.
