SLIS debuts at Maker Faire
    2017-12-06  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

深圳外国语学校(龙岗)国际部小创客亮相南山学校创客节

On the morning of December 2, little makers from Shenwai Longgang International School (SLIS) attended the third Nanshan School Maker Faire. Their appearance attracted dozens of visitors, who scanned the QR code at their booth to listen to an audio introduction to their works.

This was the first time that SLIS students took part in an off-campus maker fair. There were more than 70 exhibition booths and workshops from more than 20 international, public and private schools. Led by their teachers, Grade 1 students made a crazy clock; Grade 2 students designed a pair of fancy shoes; and Grade 3 students made a model “Zootopia.”

The colorful “crazy clock” had wings and became operational after installing batteries, which gave a surprise to visitors. The old shoes became super cool after painting, and could run with feathers and wheels. The lifelike “Zootopia” miniature was attractive to children, with lush trees in the forest, unique architecture, small animals and dinosaurs. Students also prepared audio recordings about nepetifire their works, which were automatically played after scanning a QR code.

Many visitors stopped at the booth to observe the project of SLIS makers, who also provided more information to their audience in-person.
