Competition held to boost Chinese writing
    2017-12-27  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

深港澳中学生随笔大赛举行颁奖典礼

As one of the key themed activities of this year’s Shenzhen Reading Month, an essay competition designed for middle school students from Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Macao was brought to a successful close in Hong Kong on December 16.

Themed “Classic reading + 20th anniversary of Hong Kong’s return to the motherland,” this year’s essay competition encouraged students to give full play to their literary flair, unfettered imagination and bold creativity.

The competition also provided a platform for contemporary middle school students to display cultural confidence and national pride. It aimed to cultivate students’ thinking and writing in the “We-media” era and to enhance Chinese writing and student exchanges between Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Macao.

The competition has been warmly received by teachers and students since the launch of the activity in September, with a total of 3,900 submitted articles. The first prizes went to seven articles each in the junior students group and the senior students group.

The essay competition was co-organized by the organizing committee of Shenzhen Reading Month and Shenzhen Publishing and Distribution Group.
