深圳外国语学校(龙岗)国际部举办冬季庆典活动 Yang Mei yangmei_szdaily@163.com To celebrate the end of the semester and the coming New Year, Shenwai Longgang International School (SLIS) held a special winter celebration on December 19. The event included light refreshments cooked and prepared by 26 children and colorful art performances and exhibitions, showcasing what the children have learned from the school’s clubs. Parents and guests bought the food and art works, and all the proceeds will go towards the Central Primary School in Gula Town, Tibet Autonomous Region purchasing living necessities for the students there. The student “chefs” used ingredients including broccoli, celery, carrots, grapes, strawberries, oranges and eggs to make snacks in the shapes of snowmen and beautiful fruit trays. On the display wall hung students’ paintings and handicrafts, displaying their talents in coloring, tye-dying and other painting techniques. The highlight of the winter celebration was an art performance presented by the children. They prepared 15 programs featuring a variety of elements, including harp and ukulele playing, singing songs in different languages, Bollywood dances, football, taekwondo, yoga, and more. The winter celebration also represented a practice in humanities for students. Students showed their love and care to their counterparts in Tibet through their own efforts. According to Liu Jia, headmaster of SLIS, the school has become sister schools with the Central Primary School in Gula Town this year to offer assistance. SLIS will bring third graders to visit its sister school during the next summer vacation. |
