Meaning:

“不忘” means “not to forget,” and “初心” means “original aspiration.” “初心” has been chosen as Word of the Year 2017 by a survey conducted by the Chinese National Language Monitoring and Research Center, the Commercial Press, People.cn and QQ.com. The term to “remain true to one’s original aspiration” became a buzz word after Chinese President Xi Jinping used the word in July last year to encourage CPC Party members to work hard and build China into a better place. The term, widely publicized by Chinese officials on many occasions, originated from a Buddhist sutra.
