Chen Xiaochun 654789759@qq.com THE sixth session of the Sixth Shenzhen Municipal People’s Congress opened yesterday morning at the Civic Center and will run through Jan. 21. Before the session, the Shenzhen Daily interviewed officials from consulate generals in Guangzhou, as well as overseas Chinese and honorary citizens who were invited to observe the session, on their expectations for the annual session and the topics concerning them. “We are very interested in the Shenzhen Municipal People’s Congress. It’s my first time participating in it. My country has a very strong link with Shenzhen and all parts of Guangdong, but especially with Shenzhen because of all the technology. Huawei for example, is a very important enterprise in my country,” said Carlos Javier Marín, consul of the Consulate General of Chile in Guangzhou. Marín said he was interested in topics about cooperation in all fields. “I am especially interested in high technology and immigration. We would like to increase (the number of) students from Chile who are coming to China to understand and to study here, and to take some Chinese students to my country.” “I want to learn and hear from the Shenzhen government about what they have accomplished, what they plan to accomplish for next year, and how I can support this kind of development,” Bernard Nguyen, consul of political, economic and public affairs of the Consulate General of Canada in Guangzhou, said. Nguyen added that they are most focused on environmental protection, the bio sector and the culture industry. “Shenzhen, with OCT Loft and other areas, is developing the creative sector,” said Nguyen. Qi Liling, chief representative of China for el Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona, accompanied the mayor of Barcelona, Xavier Tria, to Shenzhen in 2013 to promote the friendship between Barcelona and Shenzhen. “I found that the Shenzhen government attaches great importance to the issue of environmental protection, which is worthy of recognition. There are many new ideas for optimizing the business environment and promoting the internationalization of Shenzhen,” said Qi. Liang Jin, executive president of the Shenzhen Association of Canada, said that he was looking forward to hearing the results reported by the government and the newest data about Shenzhen. “It’ll enable me to better understand the prosperous future awaiting Shenzhen and its nice business and legal environment,” said Liang. |
