UN sustainability workshop week
    2018-01-22  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Open Fiesta in Tsinghua University Graduate School at Shenzhen is hosting a five-day “Learning by Doing X SDGs” workshop this week, which aims at fostering creativity and innovation, bringing openness and mentorship, and helping participants explore solutions which can be applied to the real world.

Mentors at the workshops are Joel Chevrier, Sophie Pene, Adrien Husson, Leonor Tourneboeuf, Ke Fang and Basile Zimmermann.

The workshop’s participants will focus on some goals from the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including Zero Hunger, Good Health and Well-being, Clean Water and Sanitation, Affordable and Clean Energy, Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, Sustainable Cities and Communities, Climate Action, Life Below Water and Life on Land.

The participants will continue working on the projects and have a final presentation in May.

With the dramatic development in human societies in the past decades, our world is now facing unprecedented multi-faceted global challenges, including economic, social, climatic and environmental crises. In 2015, the U.N. General Assembly set a global framework, the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals, for focusing on understanding and tackling these great global challenges. With 17 categories ranging from health and education for all to the sustainable supply of clear water, food and energy, the U.N. SDGs are truly ambitious. The goals can be achieved only through the combination of global collective intelligence and the engagement of the next generations.

As a partner of Open Fiesta, Chaihuo will organize a meetup at x.factory, inviting participants of the workshop to exhibit their preliminary realizations and explain their ideas.

Time: 7:30-9:30 p.m., Jan. 25

Venue: x.factory, Design Commune, Vanke Cloud City, Dashi Road 2, Nanshan District (南山区打石二路万科云设计公社x.factory)

Metro: Line 5, Liuxiandong Station (留仙洞站), Exit A(SD News)
