Chinese folk singer Cheng Bi will hold a concert Friday at Shenzhen Poly Theater.

A Japanese-language graduate from Peking University, Cheng composes songs using the poems of Bei Dao and Shuntarou Tanikawa as her lyrics and is acclaimed as a poetic songwriter. In 2015, Cheng wrote a song “I Want to Idle the Time Away With You” that gained huge popularity in China. With this folk song spreading among music lovers, the idea of idling the time away has gained huge traction among young people and earned Cheng a number of new fans.
