Breakout ‘Young Sheldon’ star Raegan Revord’s Hollywood life

    2018-02-07  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Most 10-year-olds spend their time playing with friends and trying to keep up with schoolwork, but Raegan Revord, one of the budding stars of the CBS hit “Young Sheldon,” is balancing a successful acting career on top of all that. The charismatic, young actor who plays Sheldon’s plucky twin sister, Missy Cooper, was bursting with joy when she spoke to AOL about the series’ surprise early renewal. With a second season on the horizon, and still more episodes to come from season one, Revord shared with us her excitement for the future with us, and opened up about her journey so far.

Speaking to Revord, her enthusiasm is palpable: “I love acting. It’s my passion!”

“My mom remembers my first audition, but I don’t,” chirped Revord as she revealed what she could recall of her early career. At 4 years old, Revord was already an experienced model, and had even appeared in a few commercials. She quickly caught the attention of a family friend who happened to own a talent agency. “I had seen myself in commercials, and I really wanted to do more. So we accepted her offer, and I’ve been doing TV shows, movies and I’m still doing commercials!”

Following appearances on “Modern Family,” “Teachers” and “Grace and Frankie,” Revord fought her way through many rounds of auditions, callbacks and tests to nab her “Young Sheldon” role: “I was at a producer session for a different job, and my agent and manager called my mom. They tried to trick her and say ‘No, she didn’t get it,’ and my mom got really sad. But then they said, ‘Gotcha! She got it!’ And my mom started to cry because she was so happy for me!”

When Revord discovered that she had booked the role, she was overwhelmed. “It was so amazing!”

As work began on season one, Revord knew she had something special on her hands. “Working with everyone is the best. It’s like a second family! Me, Montana and Iain, we became best buddies like a snap!”

The busy star’s aspirations don’t stop at acting. “When I wake up in the morning the first thing I’ll do is start writing on my computer.” In fact, Revord loves writing so much that she already has a book in the works. When she’s not working, Revord spends her time like any other 10-year-old. “I knit, I love playing in my backyard with my friend Aubrey, and I love horseback riding!”

When confronted with the age-old question, “What do you want to be when you grow up?,” she doesn’t hesitate. “I want to be an actor!” Her performance as the sarcastic, opinionated Missy Cooper reveals a sense of humor beyond her years, but as she speaks about her audition experience, it’s hard not to notice a wisdom some adults have yet to grasp: “I used to be nervous, but now I just be myself. If they don’t want me, well then, I move on!” (SD-Agencies)
