Woman found dead believed to be missing Chinese
    2018-03-02  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A WOMAN found deceased is believed to be the missing Chinese student, said London police Wednesday.

The police said officers investigating the disappearance of the Chinese national visited an address in Westminster early Wednesday morning and found a deceased woman.

Yan Sihong, 35, from King’s College London, was reported missing Monday.

Yan was last seen at noon time Feb. 14 at her university, King’s College London, by her friend, according to the police.

Police said Yan suffered from a long-term back condition which sometimes did cause her mobility issues, but there were no other known issues at that time.

The Chinese embassy in Britain confirmed in a statement Tuesday that Yan’s family has turned to the embassy for help and already reported to the British police.

“The embassy will continue to pay close attention to the case, to coordinate with student unions to help find the missing student, as well as to keep in touch with her family member and the British police,” it said.

“Formal identification has not yet taken place, but officers believe that the deceased woman is Miss Yan,” said a police statement, adding that the death is being treated as non-suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.

The Chinese embassy in London said Yan’s next of kin have been informed and will be provided with support for coping with the aftermath.
