‘Call me Timmy’ Timothée Chalamet, a breakout star
    2018-03-07  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

“甜茶”提摩西•查拉梅, 好莱坞95后新宠

Timothée Chalamet made his professional acting debut in an episode of “Law & Order” in 2009, but it wasn’t until nine years later that his talent gained widespread recognition. He received critical acclaim for starring alongside Armie Hammer in the 2017 romantic drama “Call Me by Your Name,” as well as his supporting role in the dramedy “Lady Bird.”

By the looks of things, the 22-year-old actor star is about to explode across the Hollywood landscape. With immense talent, leading man looks and a refreshingly green approach to industry dealings, the actor is en route to becoming the Leonardo DiCaprio of our generation.

Here are a few things to know about the breakout star:

1. He grew up in New York City

The New York City native attended Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts and went on to attend New York University’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study before becoming a movie star. Chalamet began his acting career in short films before appearing in the TV drama series “Homeland.” He made his film debut in Jason Reitman’s “Men, Women & Children” (2014) and appeared in Christopher Nolan’s science fiction film “Interstellar” (2014).

2. He’s a winner, literally

Chalamet’s performance in Luca Guadagnino’s romance “Call Me by Your Name” has been universally acclaimed. The movie earned him nominations for the Academy Award, Golden Globe Award, Screen Actors Guild Award and BAFTA Award for Best Actor. He is the third-youngest nominee for the Academy Award for Best Actor and the youngest since 1939.

3. Call him Timmy

Chalamet would like you to call him by the U.S. pronunciation of his name but according to Newsweek, his friends call him Timmy.

4. He wanted to be a soccer player

Before becoming an international superstar, Chalamet wanted to play soccer professionally. “I was a coach at a soccer camp in France. I coached 6 to 10-year-olds when I was around 13. I was good at it, but the pay was not acting money,” he told the press in August 2017.

5. He is fluent in French

Chalamet speaks French fluently and spent many of his childhood summers in France, visiting his father’s side of the family in Le Chambon-sur-Lignon and Saint-Agrève. He traveled to Italy a month before filming “Call Me by Your Name” so that he could learn the language, as well as take piano and guitar lessons to get into his character. “Learning Italian was tough,” he told Newsweek in November 2017. “I tried to really come from a purist perspective, really learn the grammar, syntax and conjugations. I’m proud of the job I do with the Italian in the movie.”

6. He dated Madonna’s daughter

Chalamet and Madonna’s daughter Lourdes Leon, then teenagers, briefly dated in 2013 while they were attending Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts in New York City.(SD-Agencies)
