4,200 school seats to be added
    2018-03-09  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE Futian District Education Bureau said it will enact multiple measures to push an agenda for balanced, high-quality education at a meeting Feb. 22 held to discuss the bureau’s efforts in 2018.

The emphasis will be on the number of seats in schools — one of the top concerns of citizens — and now 4,200 seats are expected to be added district-wide, the meeting was told.

In 2018, Futian District will complete the establishment of two newly built schools, namely Free Trade Zone Experimental School and North Campus of Liyuan Foreign Language Primary School, as well as expand the scale of Fuqiang Primary School and Beihuan Middle School. At the same time, the district also plans to open three kindergartens with 800 new seats.

The district also plans to add seven private kindergartens subsidized by the government, which offer lower tuition fees, by 2020. This will make 80 percent of the private kindergartens in the district eligible for government subsidies, thus able to offer more affordable tuition.

Tian Hongming, director of the bureau, said that the district will deepen the reform of its education system further until residents are satisfied. (A Ding)
