Peking Opera staged in Futian
    2018-03-09  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

WELL-KNOWN Peking Opera performers including actress Ding Xiaojun from the Art Troupe of the Army Politics Work Department and Zhang Jianfeng, Zhu Hong and Wang Yingzheng from the Jingju Theater Company of Beijing gathered at the Futian District Committee conference hall and performed classic pieces of Peking Opera on the 13th day of the Chinese New Year, which falls Feb. 28 this year.

The artists performed classic Peking Opera tracks including “Lady General Mu Takes Command,” “Matchmaker,” “The Legend of the Red Lantern,” “Red Detachment of Women” and a Beijing song called “Ode to the Pear Tree.”

The performance was hosted by the Publicity Department of Futian District Committee of the CPC and organized by Shenzhen Wenyun Peking Opera Development Co., Ltd.

In March the publicity department will also host renowned opera masters at 100 schools in Futian with the aim to pique students’ interests in traditional Chinese culture. (Yang Mei)
