Xi’s thought

China’s national legislature on Sunday afternoon adopted a constitutional* amendment*, enshrining* Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era into the Constitution.

“As pivotal content to the amendment, the inclusion of Xi’s thought into the country’s fundamental law reflects the common aspiration* of the entire Party and all Chinese people of various ethnic groups,” said Shen Chunyao, chairman of the Commission for Legislative Affairs of the 12th NPC Standing Committee, at a press conference on constitutional revisions.

Unmanned service

Chinese food brand Wufangzhai has opened an unmanned* restaurant in Hangzhou, capital city of East China’s Zhejiang Province.

Wufangzhai is a 97-year-old brand and is a famous producer of Zongzi, glutinous* rice dumplings wrapped in leaves. Without waiting in line, customers can order meals through self-service machines or by scanning a quick response code* on a table with their smartphones, and take their meals from a cupboard in the restaurant.

School bullying

Outbreaks of school bullying will be tackled by legal reformation, the national top legislature said on Monday.

Wang Shengming, vice chairman of the Internal and Judicial Affairs Committee of the 12th National People’s Congress (NPC), said that they will propose an amendment to the Juvenile* Protection Law and laws pertaining* to the prevention of crime by juveniles, “and will study school bullying and find related solutions through the revisions,” he added.

History education

Three museums in China want to improve history education, after scandals insulted victims of the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression.

The recent scandals have “severely damaged national dignity,” said a joint statement issued by the Museum of the War of the Chinese People’s Resistance against Japanese Aggression in Beijing, the Memorial Hall of the Victims in Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders, and the Sept. 18 Historical Museum in Shenyang.(SD-Agencies)
