THE music festival is aiming at a global audience. A delegation of journalists from five foreign media outlets were invited to report on the 2018 Belt & Road Shenzhen International Music Festival that kicked off Friday.

Under the organizing committee’s invitation, the China-based correspondents of Classique News, Lianhe Zaobao, Chinaminutes.com, The World and China Multilanguage Magazine, and the Associated Press of Pakistan arrived in Shenzhen to attend the concerts over the weekend.

Han Wangxi, head of the information office of Shenzhen Municipal Government, received the delegation and answered their questions yesterday.

During the media conference, Han introduced the music festival and invited the journalists to pass on the message that Shenzhen welcomes a diverse range of musical forms, which represent different cultures at the highest level, to the audiences in other countries and regions.

“We sincerely welcome the best musicians from all around the world to join our music festival in the coming years as we deeply believe that music can serve as a bridge to connect all cultures,” said Han.

Muhammad Asghar is a Beijing-based correspondent with the Associated Press of Pakistan. He watched a concert performed by the world-class master Mikhail Pletnev and the Russian National Orchestra on Saturday night.

“The concert was amazing, with the world’s best musicians on the stage,” said Asghar.

The journalist said he would not only send home stories about the cultural event, but also attempts to connect the organizing committee to the Pakistan Embassy in China so that the committee could invite some of the best musicians from Pakistan to perform in next year’s music festival.
