Foreign language schools alliance established in Futian
    2018-03-28  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

携手北京外国语大学 福田成立外国语学校联盟

The Foreign Language Schools Alliance, which will bring in resources from the International School of Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU International) in order to provide diversified foreign language learning options for students in the district, was established in Futian on March 14. At the same time, Futian Education Bureau signed a cooperation agreement on education with BFSU International.

The first batch of members that joined the foreign language schools alliance includes Shenzhen Futian Foreign Languages High School, Futian Foreign Language School of Shenzhen China, Futian Qiaoxiang Foreign Language School, Liyuan Foreign Language Primary School and Shenzhen Futian Yuanling Foreign Language Primary School.

The member schools will adopt a unified education management model called “alliance plus course” and introduce BFSU International’s K-12 foreign language course to their curriculums, which meets international standards for foreign language education quality.

The cooperation between Futian Education Bureau and BFSU International covers four aspects. The first is to introduce the Cambridge system English course, non-English foreign language courses, and the A-level international course. From now on, the member schools will base their future curriculum and grading scales on the criteria, standards and textbooks of BFSU International.

The second aspect is that the member schools in Futian District will now collaborate and cooperate with other partner schools of the alliance from across the country. BFSU International will oversee all member schools’ curriculum and assessment standards.

Thirdly, BFSU International will select and assign teachers with courses who are qualified to teach on behalf of Futian Education Bureau.

Fourthly, BFSU International will give advice on foreign language teaching and the advancement of an international school.

Tian Hongming, head of Futian Education Bureau, said that the main foreign language currently taught in elementary education is English. The establishment of the alliance will introduce courses of other languages from Beijing Foreign Studies University, thus providing more diversified learning opportunities for students in Futian.
